Rozier, a self-employed welder and rope access technician, appeared for sentencing at court today having previously admitted driving dangerously and at grossly excessive speed on the trunk road on May 30 last year.

Sentence was deferred until Monday’s court for background reports.

At Tain Sheriff Court today, Rozier narrowly escaped a jail sentence and was instead banned from the road and ordered to undertake unpaid work.

The 1000cc motorbike he was “putting through its paces” was capable of going from zero to 100mph in just five seconds, the court was told.

A clip of the project, showing 20-year-old volunteer Fraser Johnston taking local care home resident Mary Duncan for a bike ride, was viewed more than 20 million times in five days.

He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he remains in a critical condition.
